Gothenburg has good connections to Europe and the rest of the world by air, land and sea. If you are moving to a smaller city or town in the region, it’s usually only a short bus or train ride away from Gothenburg.

By air

Göteborg Landvetter Airport, located 20km outside of Gothenburg, is West Sweden’s main international airport. You can find out more about its flight destinations on its website.

Airport transfers
The shuttle bus service Flygbussarna leaves from right outside of the terminal and the journey time into central Gothenburg is about 25-30 minutes. Another company Swebus Express offers daily services to Borås (30-40 minutes) and Ulriceham (about 1 hour).

Taxi and rental cars are also available at the airport.

Trains, buses and trams

Västtrafik, which operates commuter trains, buses and trams, offers services for travel both within Gothenburg and across West Sweden (Västra Götaland County).

Several train operaters such as SJ, NSB, MTR Express, Öresundståg and  Blå Tåget offer services between Gothenburg and Scandinavian capitals Stockholm, Oslo and Copenhagen.

Bus companies such as Swebus and Nettbuss offer long distance and express services into Nils Ericssonterminalen in central Gothenburg.

Stena Line runs direct ferry routes between Kiel (Germany) and Gothenburg, and Fredrikshavn (Denmark) and Gothenburg.

By car

The European highway routes E6, E20 and E45 all pass through Gothenburg.
